Simple Kitchen Ideas
The more kitchen items/tools you have in the kitchen that can do two or more jobs, the less you will need! Look for items, tools, and appliances that can do more than one thing.
Microwavable bowls with lids - If you get the right size you can use these to mix up cookie or cake dough etc., you can heat up food in the microwave, and you can store food in the fridge. Therefore, if you don't have lots of leftovers you have containers, mixing bowls, and microwave suitable bowls all in one! Saving space in your kitchen right there.
Other ideas: You can use a saucepan or a pot as a mixing bowl. Or a microwave rice cooker bowl.
Toaster - If you have an oven you don't really need a toaster. You can toast bread on a tray under the griller. Turn once! Especially good if you want to toast 6-8 pieces of bread at a time. This one comes down to personal preference. How often do you eat toast? Do you want your children (when old enough) to get their own toast?
Kettle - You could actually just boil up some water in a pot on an element...
Baking tins - What do you actually bake? Only keep the baking tins you will use regularly. Can any baking tins do double duty? e.g. Do you need a round baking tin and a square one? could you use a slice tin to bake cakes as well as slices? Does depend on how much you bake and whether you enjoy baking a lot of birthday cakes or Christmas cakes. Do you really use those mini loaf tins or was it just an idea you liked?
Utensils - How many knives and serving spoons do you really need? Examine your utensils ruthlessly! What are you actually using?
Appliances - Consider what you use regularly and keep those. Some appliances that you use on a semi-regular basis are worth keeping. Think it through thoroughly!
Really thinking about my kitchen right now and wanting to minimize more. Hopefully before Christmas!
